Este es el ejercicio 131 resuelto del libro Aritmética de Baldor:

Simplificar:

1.  \frac{3}{8} - ( \frac{1}{6} + \frac{1}{12} ) =  \frac{3}{8}  - ( \frac{12 + 6}{72} ) =  \frac{3}{8} -  \frac{18}{72}  =    \frac{3*72 - 18*8}{72*8}  =  \frac{72}{576} =  \frac{1}{8}

2. 4 \frac{1}{2} + (\frac{x}{y} - \frac{1}{6}) = \frac{9}{2} + \frac{18 - 5}{30} = \frac{74}{15}

3. 7\frac{1}{4} + (4 - \frac{1}{2}) = \frac{29}{4} + \frac{8-1}{2} = \frac{15}4}

4.  \frac{3}{4}  - (2  \frac{3}{4}  -  \frac{1}{8} ) =  \frac{29}{8}  -  \frac{11}{4} -  \frac{1}{8} =  \frac{29}{8} -  \frac{23}{8} =  \frac{3}{4}

5. 9 -  (\frac{1}{2} -  \frac{1}{3}) = 9 - ( \frac{3-2}{6} ) = 9 -  \frac{1}{6}  =  \frac{54-1}{6} =  \frac{53}{6} = 8 \frac{5}{6}
